WRAP One On One

This innovative course is an overview of the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)® written by Mary Ellen Copeland. It is designed for people who are helping individuals develop WRAP plans. While WRAP is a simple system, its use and the values and ethics that surround it are far-reaching and highly complex . Upon completion of this course you will be able to guide, support and encourage another person (patients, clients, peers, friends, family members) as they develop a Wellness Recovery Action Plan using the values and ethics that have evolved as people have used this mental health recovery innovation.

This course will also be helpful to you if you are working on your own developing your Wellness Recovery, or if you are a Certified WRAP Group Facilitator and want a review.  Certified WRAP Group Facilitator's could recommend this course to group members as follow-up after they have completed the WRAP group.

This course has been approved for continuing education credit from ANCC, ASWB, NBCC and many state specific accreditation bodies.  Click here

Creating a Wellness Toolbox

A wellness toolbox is the first step in developing a WRAP.  It is also the cornerstone of a WRAP Plan. It is a comprehensive list of all the things a person does to stay well and to feel better when they are not feeling well. It can include things the person is doing now and things they have learned of that they want to try.  New tools can be added to the Wellness Toolbox as the person discovers new options.  Tools that are not working well can be removed.

People who are developing their own Wellness Recovery Action Plan refer back to their Wellness Toolbox to complete each section. For many people, developing the Wellness Toolbox is their first introduction to personal responsibility and empowerment.  One person said, "Finally I have discovered that there are thngs I can do to help myself".

In addition, some people use their Wellness Toolbox for ideas on things they can do to make each day special.  It is not uncommon to hear that a person has made a copy of their Wellness Toolbox to put in a prminent palce as a constant reminder of their many options.

This course will lead you step-by-step through the process of developing your own Wellness Toolbox.  It is recommended for people who are developing their own WRAP, people (peers, care providers, family members, etc.) who are encouraging others as they develop their WRAP plan and as a refresher for WRAP group facilitators.

Daily Maintenance Plan

The first section of WRAP is the Daily Maintenance Plan.  This course will lead you step-bystep through the of developing each of the three parts of the Daily Maintenance Plan, a description of what you are like when you are well, a list of things you need to do every day to stay as well as possible, and a list of things you might need to do on any given day.  You may choose to take this course because 1. you are working on a WRAP for yourself for the first time (and have already completed the Wellness Toolbox Course), 2. you have a WRAP for yourself and want to revise it so that it best meets your current needs, 3. you are supporting someone as they develop their WRAP and you want to know more about it, or 4. you are a WRAP group facilitator and want to refresh your understanding of this part of WRAP.

Advance Directive/Crisis Plan

The Advance Directive/Crisis Plan is the most intensive section of WRAP, the most difficult and time consuming to develop, and some feel the most important. It tells supporters and care providers how they can help someone when that person is no longer able to take care of her or him self. Having such a plan keeps the person who is having the difficult time in control even when it seems like things are out of control.Instead of wondering what to do at this hard time, supporters have a plan to follow. These plans often help relieve the intensity of the crisis, help avoid traumatic interventions and even prevent tragedies.

This course guides you through each of the nine parts of this plan. While it is helpful to  have already developed the other sections of WRAP before developing a Crisis Plan or Advance Directive, it is not essential.

This course will be of benefit to anyone who wants to develop their own Crisis Plan, or to learn more about the crisis planning.  It will be especially useful to WRAP group facilitators who want to refresh their understanding of the Advance Directive/Crisis Plan.

It is not possible to get certified to be a WRAP Facilitator without attending a 40 hour WRAP Facilitator Training with a qualified facilitator.  For more information on WRAP facilitator training go to WRAP Facilitator Certification.

As always, the best way to learn about WRAP

is in a WRAP Group.
